I've never been a fan of the Japanese government, especially their policies on whaling. You know thats the reason why the ATL aquarium has whale sharks? They actually saved them from being put into the Japanese food market (They have a quota of how many whales they can catch each year).

I am with you on the japanese government. What is so said is they can't even promise they won't touch the one whale!!!!!!!!!!

Migaloo should cost them about a million dollars per pound in sanctions if they do kill him. The arrogance of thier goverment has not changed since 1941, only thier ability to express it has changed.

For a nation that has grown and thrived living off the sea I could almost understand it. But to say they're going after x amount of whales for scientific research? to kill them? There's not a lot that's scientific about that.
In this day and age where we're becoming ever more aware of what mankind has done to the planet earth, I'm really surprised the government in Japan hasn't tried to be at least a little "green" in this regard. I try to understand their position though but there just doesn't seem to be a good reason for this one
