Anyone interested in a cone skimmer?

I have been intrigued by these new designs and have wondered if they actually work. ABT Skimmers is giving one away. They must be a new RC sponsor. I just saw the link on one of the pages and clicked away.

It's only a nano skimmer Yah nano up to 110 gallons. Darn now there is going to be competition. The ATB skimmers are supposed to be excellent so I would love the chance to try one out.

I dont understand the purpose of the cone skimmer. The footprint at the base still takes up quite a bit of room, so why not have the entire thing be of equal diameter ?

Oh and by the way, the nano cone skimmer on that site is 799 dollars.

afelder - problem for you is you can only enter once.

antiant - I want the supersize but can only fit the normal.

SirLight1337 - The cone allows for less head pressure on the pump which increases air intake and the wide base helps with less turbulance.

But it doesn't say my wife can't enter or the little one

Wouldn't less head pressure cause more turbulence as the pump would be working at maximum power ?

It looks nifty and im sure it functions just as well, but it hurts the wallet big time.

I guess im a fan of the old. If i were going to drop in upwards of 500 dollars for a skimmer, id get a bubblemaster or something.

Many are reporting performance bettering the Bubble King's with these skimmers. I'm not too sure if that is true but the bigger ones did use the Red Dragon pumps.
