My Hippo Tang took up residence in my Acro
As the subject say's My Hippo Tang took up residence in my Acro. It doesn't seem to be nipping at any polyps, just goes there to sleep after lights out. Is this harmful to the acro?
Also, this particular Acro has a commensal crab. I'm just wondering if it's going to feel threatened and don it's camoflauge, sneak up on Mr. Hippo and give him a nice pinch where it hurts! So bottom line, I'm just wondering if the Hippo taking up residence in the Acro is good, bad or indifferent? Thanks, Russ

Seems tangs hang out in acros in nature. I had one that would always go under and between my (dead decorum of an) acro.

This is why my Hippo Tang was named "Tucker", because he'd tuck into my blue A. millepora every night to sleep. It never affected the coral, and the acro crab never cared that he had a guest to share the coral with. Eventually your Hippo will outgrow that spot, and select a spot in the rockwork instead.

Same with my Hippo Russ. He has always lived in or amongst the Acro's since I had him. He wedges himself in his choice acro at night and gets his well needed rerst.

Thanks everyone. I'll sleep better tonight (not in my acro either ) knowing that everyone is acting normal.
