Unbelievable timing... I heard this and experienced this first hand the other day.. My Female Perc Popped very loudly (Thought I had a Pistol Shrimp in my tank..) when my Fairy Wrasse came near the clutch of eggs...

Excellent, thanks for sharing. I majored in marine biology and psychology and studied behavior in many different aquatic animals. This is some good stuff.

As you can see though, I'm now studying behavior in some of the strangest terrestrial animals on the planet, teenagers. They also exhibit similar "chirps" and "pops" when defending their territory.
