I think I'm ready to upgrade to a digital SLR but don't want to drop over a thousand on the new ones on the market and would be happy with an older model a couple of years old that I could maybe pick up on eBay for cheap. Any reccomendations?

Dont know if you know but you can get a new Canon Digital Rebel or a Nikon D70 with Kit lens for under $1000. I'm leaning toward the D70 myself.

I'm thinking more along the lines of about $500, that's why I said I wouldn't mind used. But thanks, I'll look into that one also

I have the Canon Digital Rebel and it is an excellent entry level digital SLR. I am very happy with it.

I have a canon D30 and I love it. I think used ones are fairly cheap now. I've played with the Digital Rebel and imho, the D30 has a more solid body and seems more sturdy, if that matters to you.
