blue hippo shud be great if you have a tank thats about 6' long and has plenty of room across so the tangs aren't competing for swimming space.

What are the dimensions of the 165? Although beautiful, I'd stay away from a Sohal, they are beasts. If you do get one make sure its the last fish added and the only tang in the tank. They get large and require a min of 6' long tank x 2' wide x 2' tall. They are very active and need room to swim.

If the sohal has a personality anything like a clown tang I would definately say no. I have two tangs in my 210. a powder brown and a 10" sailfin and he's constantly letting the PB know who is in charge.

Sohal and Purples are both notorious for their aggression to new additions, particulalry other tangs. As mentioned above the sohal will also grow to a large size 15"+. A 165 is tight for a mature sohal as is and since aggression could be a problem I would recommend not adding any new tangs. You could stick to other fish for filling out your 165.

I think you could keep 3 tangs in a 165 gallon 6 foot tank and a purple and a blue regal are a safe bet in a tank that size. Who knows on your sohal, fish often have different personalities. Sohals just have a reputation of aggression and defending a large territory. But you may have an easy going one that would get along fine with a couple other tangs.

Get rid of the sohal. Get a school of kole tangs. That would be awesome to have like 6 koles. How big do they get, about 6 inches?
