Help - No Power for Two More Days

Hey Everyone

I'm posting this for Rachelle Bloksberg (Fragmented). She's been without power for 1.5 days already. It looks like she'll be down for two more days. She has three tanks she's been struggling with. She's been trying to buy a generator but everone is out (wonder why .

If anyone has a generator she can borrow, or other suggestions, please give her a call at (problem solved phone number deleted).

So far, I suggested plugging a big inverter into her car and leaving her car running.

Just got back..
She's online now and "most" of the stuff is on now in the house.
The genereator can't handle their water pump though so no water

but the tanks look in WAY BETTER shape than I would have thought!!

The lines were still down on their road and not a PG&E truck in sight, so I fear they will be down for another 2-3 days..

But at least all the tanks and fridge are running as well as most lights in the house...

So hopefuly she will turn on her computer and pay us a visit

I think the tanks will be ok..
Like I said they did an incredible all nighter of warming water on the fireplace and placing it into the tanks to keep the temps up and stiring every 15 mins..

They looked exhausted from the all nighter...

I'm sure they will sleep better, now that they only have to wake up every 4-5 hours and feed the generator...

No showers but hey.. Sleep and peace of mind is priceless

THIS is what MARS is all about... Without MARS many tanks would die in situations such as this.
The power of social networking.
I'm just glad to be a part of a club that has the ability to reach out to fellow reefers.

PS: I had no IDEA of how FAR Neveda City is away from us!! Props for people coming that far for a meeting!! It's like a 2 hour drive EACH WAY!!
Mad props to people who trek that far from wherever they life!!

Wow! Man this is terrible news, thanks Steve!

BTW - I do have my generator on standby should somebody else know of somebody in similar position. I just fired it up today and replaced the gas just in case.

WTG Steve!

You are the MAN!

That is a great story... I can't believe they stayed up all night warming water on the fire and stirring every 15 minutes! That is awesome!

Spread the wealth

I was thinking that it would be a nice and supportive gesture to help steve out with some Gas $$'s for the drive to Nevada City in his GAS GUZZLING van. Most of us couldn't help out physicaly, but I'm thinking most of us could throw a few buck his way to help out. No reason why he should encur "all" the cost associated with being a nice guy. I'm sure Steve would never request or even suggest we do this, but i'm also sure it would be appreciated!

PM me for his PAYPAL account. I sent a couple ducks his way a few minutes ago.

heheh thanks!!
Please don't feel obligated to send anything!!! It's not that big of a deal.

NEW NEWS: Well, gave a call this evening to see how it was going, and power is actually back up for them!!! She said the power lines are still draped across the road?!?!? So they must be backfeeding the lines around the mess I guess. Which is great news!!!!

I guess she did get her computer back up the other night but alas no internet yet. I forgot to ask what they use (DSL, CABLE)? So I'm assuming cable and the lines that are all over the road had cable on them so..

But all is doing well, official report: NO fish Loss and Coral loss is not yet known, but so far nothing is dead, just struggling a bit.

So that's the word from up north!!
Hurray!!!
