Possible Pajama Cardinal Breeding

I think the larger of my two Cardinals is holding a mouth full of eggs. Assuming he is a he, his mouth is en-larged and he's moving his mouth in away that looks like he is holding eggs. Any advice anyone could give me would be much appreciated.

6days till spitting i think, it is possible to move the fish to a specific tank, but 25%+ chance of loss of the eggs.

Very small larvae may eat rotifers as first food not sure on that one.

I don't know anything about this, but I remember once reading that the father will keep the fry in his mouth as long as possible. Have you ever heard that? And once again I am just learning about all of this so bare with me, what is rotifers?

Thats good for info on rotifers.

This species is fairly hard to rear as the larvae are very small, but you should be able to get them to hatch at least.

PJs release their fry at an early stage. I have a male holding eggs right now. My pair seem to spawn every month or so. Have not tired raising them yet.

Banggaii are the ones that hold for a while.

Doc-
"will the fry's eat cyclop-eeze?"
not usually...althou its better than nothing
the planktonic sized fry require living wiggling food. Phyto-enriched rotifers will do the trick. These are somewhat tricky thou. good news for you, the pair will breed almost monthly if givien the chance.so use this as a learning tool. And as mentione dabove banggai cardinalfish are currently th eonly apogon that hold the fry for an additional 10days, all other cardinal release planktonic fry around day 7-12

Thank for the info; do you know of a good place to buy like a rotifers kit? A thread last night said to raise them you needed green water the rotifers and a couple of two liter bottles. I would need to buy the green water too.

Can someone tell me what I should be looking for. My PJ cardinals mouth is back to normal today so I am guessing he has given the babys up. Are these going to be eggs, little fish, what? There is a lot of places for fish to hide in my tank. Will these babys or eggs live?

You are looking for little fish of sorts, i bet most of us wish bit more fish than they are sometimes!!!!

best way to find some is map out the days it takes from the mouth to be full (parent wont feed) to the day it loses it. 6-10 days

then after that look the night of the spiting a few hours after lights out, with a torch and you will see little things floating/swimming around. better to turn down the circulation pumps so they dont go sump surfing but you will at least see some. they are very small and you will probably see the eye first just a little silver round thing.
