Seio pumps

Hi,
I'm always seing those used without the external housing and in the horizontal position. Any specific idea why all use them this way? Is there any advantage for this? I bought one last week and unfortunately it's 110 V while here the electricity is 220 V also the frequency of this pump is 60 hertz while the frequency here is 50. Any idea if there is any specific transformer to correct for this? will the use of a transformer affect the function of the pumpor make it risky somehow?
thanks for your help

Can you just use a power converter that you can plug on the outlet and plug the pumps to the converter???????

I believe they have better flow and take up less space when used without the deflector casing.

I believe they have wider flow also. Without the deflector, there is a wider surface.
