Catching a shrimp in a reef?
I know that this is not a reason task to do but what could I do to catch a shrimp in a 180g reef tank? The reason for this is because I saw a pregnant shrimp under some cave's with many orane eggs and I wish to catch it, the problem is that it always hiding and you can see it only in shaded places..
Please help me catch it ! |

Don't remove it because of the eggs. Newly hatched shrimp fry can be a good food source for your tank.
Still, if you have reason to catch a shrimp, try to trap them. Put some fresh seafood in a clear bottle/jar/whatever, and put it in the tank. The shrimp will probably climb right in for an easy meal, and you can pull it out.

From what I saw with mine, the shrimp with eggs will not move much. Some times I can get them to climb up my arm trying to clean it. Try holding some food in your hand maybe. I can't think of an easy way to get it with out stressing it much.

I wish to take it out of the aquarium to isolate in another aquarium and maybe save the baby shrimps. Does anyone have any pictures of shrimp traps etc so I can take some ideas..

I don't think the bottle trap will work( I am not dissing your idea Jeff as I have had that work for many crags and fish even). They can feel the bottle with their antenea and will be hesitant to just jump in. It may work with a LARGE opening that they can't feel. If you are trying to get it out to raise the fry, I wouldnt bother. They are hard to raise and I haven't read may sucess stories. My fish go nuts trying to catch all the larva. Some corals even get a hold of some.
