i have one in a 20 long with a CB shrimp. i don't think they need a very big tank mine never comes out from under "his" rock except to eat. i feed him a piece of scallop about twice a week.

other than that i wouldn't know he was in the tank. i still like him though he kinda cool.

Most of your lobsters need Moderate sized tanks, like a 50 gallons an up. There lighting is Immaterial thats why they stay hidden. They feed at night or when the lights are out. They get up to 6 inches and are reef safe. And they need good water movement. They are scavengers and eat just about anything, but will not harm any inverts or fish.

i may have a different species but mine's only about 3 inches long and i've had him about a year and a half and he's stayed the same size. all the ones like him i've seen have been about the same size as the one i have.

also i know they will eat fish mine has killed one chromis. ( i saw him do it) he also killed a black mollie i had with him.

thats why he lives by himself. i don't want him killing any more fish. i also know it wasn't because he was hungry because i keep him well feed. shrimp, scallops and krill
