Ozone

What's the deal with Ozone? Is it a good thing for reef set-ups? When should it be used, when should it not be used? I have read that it can be hard on plumbing, if this is the case what kind of plumbing should be used?

I'm not sure if this is the right place to put this... But I hope it is.

In general, I'm not a fan of using ozone because I generally think the risks of undesirable outcomes outweigh the benefits. Most people who use it, use it to keep the water as colorless as possible. I'd prefer to use carbon for that, but folks clearly can keep very nice aquaria and still use ozone.

Ozone is hard on plastics. Manufacturers who sell to aquarists will sometimes claim that their plastics are "ozone safe".
