VHO question
I run VHO's over my 120g reef and i love the color and coral growth that i get from them. Its about time to change the bulbs because its been about 8 months since i got the current bulbs that i am using. here's my question. i currently have to 50/50 bulbs which i believe put off 12,000K and 2 super actinics which put off 100% blue spectrum light. Is this the best combo or should i switch the 12,000K 50/50s to 10,000k Daylight bulbs. From wut i've read its pretty much just a preference of color at this point, but i was wondering if anyone has experience with both and if you've seen any difference in coral growth between the two.

I think it would brighten up your tank.
I traded a couple of my 50/50's before and it looked brighter, but I liked the 50/50's better. |

I just added 2 more VHOs to my setup - 1 50/50 and 1 10k daylight. From what I can tell, the 50/50s give off more of a pink color and the 10k daylights give off more of a white/yellow light.
The nice thing about the 10k daylight bulb is that it gives off a higher par value then the 50/50s.

I too like the 10,000K lamps paired with super actinics. If I had four lamps, I'd do 1-10,000K, 1-50/50, and two Actinics. That's my preference. Since I only have two (with halides), they'll stay 1-10,000K and 1-Actinic.

When I had my 40 tall, I ran 2 50/50, 1 Act, and 1 daylinght and that looked good. Now I have over our 115 3 4' 50/50 and 1 3' actinic and I like that allot. The daylight bulbs add some yellow, but they do seem to make for good growth.
