Not in HK you dont, they know exactly what they have in hand when they get a hybrid from Kenya.
Actually the procedure is, when a supplier is getting a hybrid he contacts the HK importers with a picture and they bid on the fish. No Joke! |

Vili,
Its been a couple of years since I was in HK so I am not sure what they are paying for these fish these days. Can you give some insight on what rare angels like Bandits, Conspics, Africanus (juv). etc, are going for. I am just curious because I am continiously being over bid on these fish |

Is this in HK? are ya sure?!?
Triggerfish76 HK market is almost always cheaper than US market , I guess besides Hawaii and Craibean fish any other fish will be cheaper in HK. It got alot to do with the market situation, for example, macolosus x semicirculatus or maculosus x chruysurus which is seriously rare were the hot fish last winter till few months back. If you would contact a Kenya supplier and big a price he would just laugh. HK importers went crazy and bid seriously high prices so a nice specimen was going for over 10 grands in HK. If one specimen will go to Los Angeles I dont think it will be sold at 1/10 of this price, but basicly the Kenya suppliers knows who to offer these fish to. |

Jan one, your tank is just awesome! Maybe the most beautiful fishes I have seen. Your clarion angel is magnificient and I can't believe you have seadragons! Those are sweet... For how long do you have them? Do you have some other pics of your fishes that you could share?
Thank you François-Étienne

CITES: Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species.
An animal/plant needs to be listed in a CITES index in order to fall under CITES regulation. NO marine angelfish species and in fact very few marine fish in general are CITES listed (Seahorses and the Napolean wrasse are the most notable). Please feel free to look this up yourself: http://www.cites.org/ Therefore, you do not need a CITES permit to import an animal that is NOT CITES listed. You will need permission from US Fish and Wildlife however. |
