Geez...where to start.
Set up a 120 4years ago and had about $8K in it with LR, sand and that is it. Ice Storm caused a 14 day power outage in the winter, I would have had to have 3 generators to keep everything going. Lost about $4k in livestock alone. I was in up to $12k at that point. Never the less to say I lost everything. So...what to do? Buy a 225 Starfire and start over. I am using a lot of my equipment from my 120 including "base rock". After purchasing the tank, system pump, sump...etc, I'm well into the $15K mark and I don't even have water in it. Working on putting in a CL...it never ends. Like others have said, I enjoy the hobby and love the life it brings into my home. My wife loves it, and she knows how much this stuff costs. All I can say is it keeps me sane, but totally broke!

I have a 120 with a 39 gallon sump. Not counting livestock or miscellaneous small purchases I would say a realistic $5000 - $6000.00

just out of curosity...........if we were to get tank (say 125G) and fill it up with change........i wonder many pennies it would take to fill it......and obviously would still get attention from visitors, but not good enough to stare at for hours on end and ignore the tv....
