I saw some new RO/DI systems today that are going to turn the RO/DI industry upside down in the next few months. I was shocked to find out my MaxCap system is almost an antique at 6 months old! Charles and his staff have been very busy developing and testing new products that again will be unique in the industry andwill leave the competitors in the dust for some time to come.
For a teaser how about RO/DI units powered by microprocessors that flush and do all sorts of things automatically. Or a newer version of the MaxCap cartridge that will last twice as long as the 3.5x we are already experiencing and be a killer silica cartridge all in one.
Or better yet a system that is much more conservation minded when it comes to waste. Or a single membrane system capable of 150 GPD at about 99% rejection rate.
They are really serious when it comes to reef quality systems and I am saving my money for some new goodies soon!

That sounds totally awesome. I hope those new RO/DI units would be affordable.

When are they expected to be available? I think I should save my money also.

Things should start hitting the market in 4 to 6 weeks I believe.

hmm, I was just there a couple days ago and purchased the 180g/day unit. Hope these new gadgets will be add ons!

Some can be and some are completely unique.

Yeah, I was floored when Charles showed me the permeate/concentrate ratio on that new 200 gpd unit, somewhere around 2:1 instead of the usual 1:4-5. Heck the $$$ commercial system the store uses only gets a 1:1 ratio.

Ya, its being beta tested at 1 waste to 2 good instead of the normal 4 waste to 1 good !

I recently read an article about how carbon nano tubes are being used in membranes. Have you heard or read anything about that technology making its was to the reef keeping world?

No thats a new one for me.

I guess that the nanotube based membranes are supposed to last twice as long as what is currently used in industry. Apparently, the real advantage is that the the membranes are much more efficient because the nanotube membrane allows for the water molecules to not have to travel as far before all the minerals are seperated. That is about all I know.

I suppose that I could google it to find out more---

When you google there are a ton of research projects underway but I didn't find much on liquids.

You are right, It appears that everything is still research and development and it is being built for large scale operations.
