Awakened to the sound of running water!

Last night a little after 10 PM I wake up hearing running water. My wife yells my tank had broke! I rushed out and found my 15G nano cracked and water all over the living room floor. I had loaned my son my 10G QT tank so i dug out an old 10G acrylic hex and transferred some of the inhabitants into it.

This really sucks. The tank has been up and running 4 years in the same location with no problems and why it decided to break all of a sudden is beyond me.

I ordered a new 16G bowfront for now until I decide what I want to do next. The enclosed nanos are nice but I have a 96w powerquad fixture and a AC500 fuge so they really would not work out for me.

Here is what it used to look like:

Here it is today!

But on the bright side I finally got the new enclosure for my Sulcatas finished and they sure are happy with their new digs!

Bummer. Did you save all the livestock? 16g bowfront should be a very cool tank.

Good luck with the transfer.

I have the inhabitants split between the hex and in the bottom of the old one below the crack. It was a ViaAqua 418W LV. I bought it new in Ventura CA and brought it home on the back seat of my wifes VWBeetle. They didn't have any in AZ at the time.
Good thing I have all tile floors! No swimming for a few days though as every beach towel and car wash towel we have is now soaked in saltwater.

I have an extra 10g you could use if you need it. I got called in to work tonight and am going to be there at 5:30pm. I could throw it in the truck and take it with me if you want to pick it up at John C Lincoln on 27th and the 101.

I think I'm good, thanks anyway. I have most of the sand in one bucket and the rock in another along with the hex. How do you get so much stuff in a little 15G glass box? I have stuff scattered all over the family room from one little tank!

Looking good! I guess it's a good think it was your little tank. The other would have been a HUGE flood!

Tell me about it! I'm having a hard time getting used to how the bowfront distorts things. The powerhead and AC500 intake in the picture are actually plumb but they look crooked at certain angles. All in all I like the 16G bowfront though. It allowed me to keep my AC500 refugium and my 96w powerquad light. The all in one cubes are nice but I already had all this stuff.

Your Sulcata's(sp) are looking good. My little 5" one is growing slow and steady. I need to find him a new pal since the female I had mysteriously died while I was out of town.

I have raised 3 of our 4 since they were silver dollar sized. The 4th one was given to us a few months ago by a friend who could no longer keep it. The youngest one was actually one of a pair my son got for my granddaughters but its mate crawled away and it got lonely. Its the craziest thing to hear a tortoise cry! It would wine and cry itself to sleep at night until I brought it home and put it with the other 2 we already had. It sounded just like a human baby, kind of eerie.

Nice bowfront! I've got my 16g bow back home now, hoping to show some self control and just keep it for my softie frags, etc...
