The water would be pumped up from a common return area.

Actually, the corals would benefit from the fish as their food and poop can be used by the corals for growth. As long as your reef stays within healthy parameters, the frag tank should do well.

Then again, if you put pests in your frag tank, they can migrate to the reef, so there is that risk. In that case, you'll want independent systems but keeping both stable can be challenging. Combining the water volume tends to be quite stabilizing. You just need to quarantine new arrivals including any corals or frags to avoid introducing pests into your reef.

Hmm... this could be fun. Maybe I should start trying to plan that then... that way we could have a cool prop tank for some stuff.

Now you're really in for the questions :P

Congrats on yet another split!

Do I hear rumors of nanogurl and a 125+ tank? Is this going to be in addition to the 75g or are you upgrading?

Other than a new home for Ocean...any other ideas swimming in your head about what you're going to put in the new tank?

I'll be the first to request an in-tank mermaid shot when you leak test the new tank

Here is an idea... It would save you on lighting and space. You want a sump in your basement and a frag tank.. correct? How about making this all one tank. Either a rubbermaid tub or try and find a used 6 foot tank. Go to a glass place and have them cut dividers for you. Have the drain go into a section with MH lights and egg crate for the frags. Then the next set of sections would be just like a normal sump. The MH lights would give enough lighting in the other sections for any algae you want to grow. This way you get the benefits of a larger water volume but without having to buy extra heaters, skimmer, and pumps. Or I'm sure Marc will custom make you one out of acrylic.

Does your zebra eel give you ant problems with your clowns or shrimp?

Thank you. I would not put a PBT in a 4' tank (75 or 90 or 120) long term. I got mine at about 3" to raise him up in my 75 which I think is fine.. but he will need a larger tank within a year probably. I bought him knowing that I was going to goto a 6' tank when we move next March. I would not keep my PBT in anything under 6' once he matured. I was even thinking of going to a 8' tank just bc of that.

The black ich was awful and really frustrating. I had to fresh water dip him 3 times to get rid of it and I got lucky nobody else did. I also keep my temps higher then most do on purpose to help him. It really seems to make a difference so far.

To post a photo you have to host your file somewhere. Then get the link and add [img...] to the front and [/img...] to the end without the ....

Yea, that question has come up before... It probably isn't 150 anymore. I have some in my sump which I added into that, but I think everyone agreed that it wasn't 150 and I am going to try and weigh it when I break it down to move so we can all know how much it really was.

But, there is actually quite a bit more then it looks from the front, as the back and corners have a lot that are hidden for my eel to go in and out of. It's probably closer to 100 to 125 but 150 is what the LFS told me =)

Thanks =) Me too, he's so cool. He always comes to the front to say hi to me when I walk by. Actually, the entire crew does.. they follow me from the right to left when I walk by thinking they will get food lol. It's funny.
