Best foods for seahorses

Got my first seahorse about a week and a half ago. Didn't need one, a friend caught it and asked if i wanted it. Would have been better off left in the water, but i took it in. It's about a fully to near full grown Lined seahorse. We have a pair of Longsnout at work. This being a wildcaught older individual, i'm surprised it took to frozen mysis within days and now pigs out when i feed. Just wondering what everyone else feeds theirs.

There were plenty of fish in the sea, but i wasn't ready to hang up my tacklebox.

I feed mainly PE Mysis. Mine just don't care for the other brands much (SFB, Hikari, etc).

I found sh don't switch brands easily, so if you found something she likes it may be best to stick with it. That said, I've used several brands and found PE and Hikari to be the higher quality

Also, enriching with vitamins is important. I use Vita-Chem, but primarily because its readily available ... I'm sure there are other good choices.

Actually, feeding wild caught live shrimp to your captive bred seahorses isn't the best idea. The risk of introducing parasites and pathogens is very real with wild caught shrimp.

Now, aquacultured live shrimp....those would be very good as a foodsource or occassional treat. However, aquacultured shrimp are rather expensive.

I fed live freshwater ghosts for years without issues. Many f the parasites from salt water are a non factor with the fresh water ghosts.

Mysis is by far the cheapest. Feeding live can be expensive.
