Please help! Is my coral diseased?

Good evening all,

I was admiring my 180 tonight and noticed that my Colt soft coral had these withdrawn areas on it that were also slightly discolored. It was not like this yesterday. Here is a picture as it looks now.

and here are couple of pictures of how it looked late last week

Please help me determine what is wrong and what I can do to stop it.

Hello Chris,

does not look like your coral has a problem on the pics. Everything looks normal...

Thanks for the reassurance. I was worried about it. I have had it for over 3 weeks now and it seems to be doing great. I also have Fine Finger Leather Frag from a friend that is doing wonderfully.

Hello Chris,

the second coral is a Nepthea (I am not so familiar with the "plain language" names - especially the english ones) - that can grow really fast to a large colony if you allow it. I have a rather large example of this one as well.

Markus, are you sure that's not a Lemnalia?

No need to apologize about not knowing the English names...we don't know the German ones

ups you are right that it is not a Nepthea.... (its branches are different)

but I do not think it is a Lemnalia;

But anyhow with some of the soft corals and sea fans it is as difficult as with the SPS - and in the web exist a lot of pictures with different names which makes it even more complicated.
