fake urchin for Bangaii Fry
so my male bangaii has been carrying for about 14 days now. Its my first go at this(well, they're first go at this) and i'd like to get to raise the fry. Anyway, im thinking that i will make a fake urchin out of like epoxy and meat skewers...anyone know if the fry will be attracted to fake urchins? basically i dont want to tear apart my reef to get the parents out and i want to us the fake to lure the fry so i can net them, and transfer them to the rearing tank....thoughts?

yes......
you'll find some fry in the fake urchin. If you have the adults in a display tank, some fry will hide in the rockwork, around corals, and pretty much everywhere, but you can gather some to many w/ the fake urchin. You've read all the important articles --yes? http://www.breedersregistry.org/Arti...ini/marini.htm http://www.reefs.org/library/talklog...ni_020799.html http://www.reefs.org/library/talklog...ke_102499.html

I made one from weedwacker twine and a 1" PVC endcap. Had one batch of babies ignore it, another seemed scared of it, but my most recent babies love it to death and staying with it well into their juvi-hood when I deemed they were far to large to play in their urchin.
