Shipping Corals

Hi all, I was just wondering if anyone would like to post some photos of themselves putting together a shipment of their frags for shipping. I have never bought over the internet and thought this is a good way to investigate. Thanks !

I can get pics tomorrow but here are my steps. When shipping overnight/express: 1. Get a box 2. Line a box with styrofoam 3. Place double-bagged frags in styro box 4. Place newspaper in between bags so they stay in place 5. Tape heatpack on styro lid 6. Place lid on box 7. Cover, tape, ship. Fairly simple.

Not to hi-jack the thread, but why do people feel compelled to tell everyone they are "tagging along"? Why don't they just read it? Are they just trying to increase their number of posts? Just curious?

It shows interest, and if multiple people are wanting to see something, it tends to trigger those who do it to help out. People tend to want to help several people with something rather then just one when it involves running out, bagging, taking pics etc.

That said... I want to see those pics too.

sorry about that i completely forgot to do the pictures. I have another bunch going out on monday. I will try to get pictures then. For now here is a step by step for what I do for Zoas
1. Get flat rate Priority box fo your liking
2. Take 1" styrofoam and cut so that it fits in the box on all side top and bottom included.
3. Preparing the frags
A) I take a bowl of water from the tank
B) Take plain paper towel and soak in tank water
C) Put frag in soaked but not dripping paper towel and wrap it around it. Repeat this so that there is two layers of paper towel
D) Place in bag and tie shut with some air in the bag. Labeling the bags helps out for you and the person recieving the frags.
4. Get the heat pack ready I use 60hr uniheat packs. They take a while to get warm so shake them a bit and let them sit.
5. Place bags in the box and place newspaper between the bags and whats going to be the lid.
6. tape the heat pack to the under side of the top piece of stryofoam
7. Tape the box shut and put a label on it and thats all there is to it.
Hope that will help

ambition got the better of me here is what I could do tonight.

1. The box as it comes from USPS

2. Folded the box and taped the bottom. I seal the whole bottom with tape so that there is no cracks left.

3. Cut styro to fix into box. Make sure that it fits tight.

4. The styro comes in sheets like this and it does make a mess to cut with a razor blade.

5. Taped the heat pack to the styro lid that I made. I use the 72 hour heat packs they dont get as hot I feel this makes for less chance of a heat spike as can happen with the 8hr packs.

6. The bags that I use are your regular plastic bags for shipping. I double bag and then put all the bags in another bag full of air to help insulate.

This is as far as I could go tonight since I can't ship out till the morning. I will take the rest of the pictures when I am putting the frags in the bags and finishing packing the box.
