Mounting Height of MH Over Tank

How high should I mount my MH over my tank. I have 2 250W 10K bulbs supplemented with 4 39w T5's over a 125 gallon tank.

I was planning on running fans to help with the heat, I was thinking 8-10in but I didnt know if that would be to close. Would that be too far away for my t5's to do any good. They do have individual reflectors, dont know if that will help drive the light down into the tank.

Can be 8” to 12" from the water surface but can go 6” if shielded.
