Identify?

In my 12g nano I have LR that I got from Tye here in mansfield. I noticed originally only one of these little creatures, but now I can usually count a good 6 - 12 at any one time, more in the morning before my lights come on.

orangeish body with a blueish purple shell(flat).

there are three in this pic alone. two to the right of the snail and one above the snail.

sorry for the flash

Looks like little stomatella snails. Very beneficial snails. Good for the reef.

Does the shell cover the entire body if it's irritated?

Look at limpet

The shell description is what led me to the stomatella.

Here's a pic. Doesn't show the irridescence in the shell, but does yours look like this?

Here are a couple of pics of the stomatella I found in my tank for another reference. I'm not sure what I'm looking at in your picture, can you get a close up. I always remove and take pictures of it in a plastic container with some water in it.

that is exactly what they look like, except they have a more blue/purple shell.

I have migrated two from the 12g to the 110g.

anyone know how they reproduce. do they look like flat worms? I have little tiny orange "flat worms", I use flat worm exit and suck them up when they die and about 1-2 months later I get them again.

I'll take some pics of the little "flat worms", hopefully I can get a better pic.

I see 3 in the original pic. I've put red arrows where they are. They lay eggs.

new pics

here is a pic of the "flat worms"

can anyone identifiy the crab in the pic. He was a freeloader when I bought the SPS. My emerald crab died shortly after, would this crab kill others?

http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p...g/CRW_4729.jpg

and another request for identification, freeloader on some LR that I bought, started off as just a couple stalks, has grown steadily over the past couple months.

thanks again for everyones help!

I appreciate it.

Your freeloader crab is harmless- its an Acropora crab. It will spend its entire life living in that coral, keeping it clean of debris. Beneficial.

I guess there's a possibility its a toadstool. Got a pic with the polyps closed up? I'm with szwab, thinking more capnella, or some other type of leather.

Throwing my guestimate in the mix...... I think that thing looks like a bit baby red sea xenia (I have a bunch of it). Looks exactly like a small patch I thought I'd gotten rid of, but a bit of it was on a rock, now looking just like this, growing back again.

OK.. Guess we'll have to see when it grows out.
