What cause's Rics to abandon rock ?

i bought a nice size chunk of LR with 6 large Ricordia on it and now im down to 2.

i've adjusted the flow in the tank (lowered so they wouldn't get blown around) and raised and lowered them in the tank but i kept loosing one after another (break loose off rock and float around in tank).

well tonight i noticed my frogspawn was all shrunken up and sure enough a ricordia was entangled it .

im at my wits end with them,.. i have another frag or large ric thats doing great, but this one rock keeps loosing its rics ?

why are they jumping ship ?

all params are perfect
cal is 400
lighting is PC

i had (removed to Q/T) a flame angel in the tank but never caught him nipping,... would nipping be a reason to detach ?

Thanks in advance.

how long did you have this rock? It could have been unhappy when you got it. They normaly detach if there is not enough light or too much flow.

my experience is,

1.too much flow- detach fast -almost instantly,

2.too less/too much light - shrink then detach after a while,

3. water param off- shrink then detach after a while

hope this helps
