Hey Chris. That was one I got in a package of 10 Acanths. It was called gray and green, but it just looked solid gray when I got it. The gray has been turning a light purple, and the light green is showing through. It has really grown on me. Plus, It's way different than the others I have.

Hey RandyO
They look great wow I wish mine looked like that. Is it a lighting thing or is the amount of food that you are feeding them play a role on how big they puff up. I still have mine at the bottom of the tank should I place them closer? I have been feeding them mysis shrimp every night. Sorry I have one 250 watt AB DE 20k BULB on a 30 gallon cube.

I think the more they are fed, the more they will puff up. I've noticed a lot of the wild colonies take some time before they puff up. They are usually flat pieces too. I've never seen one of those flat pieces with really puffy polyps. It's the ones grown from frags that have the rounder growth that look more puffed up. It could be that the rounder ones have more room to stretch out. I have mine under a ton of light. Most are on the bottom of a 24" tank, but my larger colonies are about 6" off the bottom. I try to give them more light, since some of the polyps are shaded from the main colony. They get a little better color that way too.
I just got some mysiss for the first time last week. After feeding it a few times, I don't like it as much. The brine shrimp is bigger. These polyps are pretty big, and tney like big prey. I soak the brine in Cyclopseeze and other things like Golden Pearls or Phytoplex.

Snaped some new photos:

First off, the red/orage micromussa:
This one was attacked by my yellow tailed snapper two days ago, healing nicely.

This is a tiny one polyp piece that was grown from just a sliver of skin.

Three polyps, on is under the big one.

Two midsize polyps.

One polyps on this one got really messed up awhile back, doing alot better.

Next up, the green/red acan frags!

Baja,
You are also a serious plate coral killer!
Unless you have a story about the plate skeletons!
They work great to mount frags on...

lol, those are whats left of a large foot long 2-3" diameter dead coral branch that I found at my lfs awhile back and choped into disks with a tile saw.

No plate corals were harmed in the production of the frag disks.

Any one ever tried using this as a food for their acans?

I have been feeding mainly chopped shrimp and clams, which is VERY hard to get small enough for some of the polyps, and prime reef flaks.

I have been trying recently crushing the flakes into a powder or a little bigger and it seems to work best as they can get it down easy, and still eat alot. I have no access to any pre-packaged frozen food here(no real lfs).

One really cool thing I have seen, is that if the food is alive(i.e. I toss a nearby pod into the polyp) the acans respond MUCH better, they practically wrap themselves around the food. Is there a small worm or bug that you can get to feed them?

Yea I saw that but I don't want to buy 5 other corals.
I understand it's an insentive to buy more products..but i'd rather pay 120 and not have to buy a bunch of corals I don't want, then buy 5 corals to just clutter up my tank.
