After further inspection I definitely say TOTM! it has great growth and diversity...a slice of Heaven!

how did you grow your colonies out? mainly from frags or mariculture?

This is by far one of the coolest setups I have seen!! Since I have setup my tiny 90, I have debated going Bare Bottom. I didn't because I like the way the sand looks. With a tank like this I don't think you would even know if there was sand or not.

Tank of the Month all the way. How do we nominated for this? Has anyone made the nomination?

Fat Fish- Did you start with all colonies? How did you place all of them so close and tight? Pegging? Do you have issues with colony wars and fights?

The regal angels are awesome! Where did you get them from and what are you feeding them? Im also intrested in the colonies, how large were they when you got them? All grown from frags? Pegged? An i may not have noticed in you equipment list but what are you using for flow?

fastfish - With going Barebottom what do you attribute your wonderful colors to? How do you avoid faded washed out colors which are fairly typical for barebottom tanks? Hefty feeding of both fish and corals?

His colors are actually quite typical of BB colors IMHO. His colors are more on the "lighter" side than on the "darker" side. Obviously his colors are very good so its just a matter of which "shade" YOU prefer. Just seemed like you are saying BB isn't conducive to good colors when this is not the case at all and his tank proves it.

I am not tryin to infer that BB isn't condusive to good color. I think you will agree it is a common question/problem asked here on RC. I run BB myself an have a hard time putting enough nutrients into the water column to keep from over - lightening.

I was just wondering what methods he uses for addition of nutrients is it fish load, food, aminos????? etc.........

Sorry, back to your tank thread!

Thanks for the reply on the equipment. Keeping on track with the last few questions; What do think contributes to your colorful sps? ...Large water changes? ...Additives/Ammino acids? ...Heavy feeding? ...400w halides?

The 400w XM bulbs have always been decent...
Spectrum Lamp Ballast Shield PPFD CCT Watts Volts Amps Efficiency
plot EVC 400W 10000K SE 1 Magnatek 400W (M59) N 204 8330 485 120 4.27 0.4221
plot Hamilton 400W 10000K SE 1 Magnatek 400W (M59) N 184 8788 471 122 4.08 0.3907
plot XM 400W 10000K SE 1 Magnatek 400W (M59) N 172 11660 438 120 3.9 0.3927

3rd on the list ain't bad, plus they run the bluest of the 10k bulbs.

Those new pics only back up my point. This tank is TOTM material. In fact its better than most of the SPS tanks I've seen. Also, that angel collection in a Reeftank? Who are you kidding man? Your good. You know it. Or is bragging held against you?

Did I see a Pyramid Butterfly in one of those pictures? How's it working out? Does anyone bug or pester it? I have 2 in QT right now, will be moving them to my 300 in a few weeks. One of my favorite fish can you post another pic of yours?
