We've got a local place here called Mark and Monica's, where I met my wife 17 years ago, that we go to at least once a week. My current favorite is thin crust, pesto, salami, pastrami, onion, garlic and tomato slices on top.

I use the recipe that der_wille mentions on a regular basis as well. It's hard to beat a good pizza margarita.

Nook - reminds me of the best Italian meal I've ever had. It was a place called Lombardi's(?) out by the airport in St. Louis. Do you know if it's still there?

Nooky-boy, I cannot believe you did not mention Faraci's Pizza. I thought that was the main part of your diet

I have been told by many pizza makers that it has to do with the water. Dont know if this is true but while in sc i had some pizza and it tasted like cardboard covered with cheese.

It has a ton of rich tomato sauce and cheese. Supposedly their meats are really good too, from what my hubby says, but I get just cheese on mine.

The pizza is so thick and filling that I can't eat more than 2 pieces... but YUM!!!

Wow Crystal, that is awesome that you know Rosati's, did you live in the Chicagoland area? I think one of the original stores opened by my house 25 years ago, so I grew up on it, and have loved it ever since.

Bouno's in San Pedro, CA is the best I ever had. They use a real brick oven and make there own dough, sauce and use fresh ingredients. I sure miss it. We don't have anything really good where I am now. At least not that I have found.

Nope... they have them HERE IN PHOENIX!

Quote:
With the Rosati name firmly established in the Chicago suburbs, the family took another giant step forward. In February, 1979, the family started franchising carryout/delivery stores and the first full-size Rosati Pizza Restaurant opened in Schaumburg, Illinois. Many more locations were opened, both full-size and carryout By 1993, there were over fifty restaurants in three states.
They just opened one by me about 2 months ago, and that is how I discovered them. We just had it for dinner tonight. It is SO saucy, juicy, mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!

Maybe I need to go get another slice out of the fridge...

Crystal
