I just bought some PHOSaR. How do I know when to replace the media?
I just bought some PHOSaR for my phosphate reactor. How do I know when to replace the media? TIA

Test your phosphates when you start using the Phosar, if you had high phosphates I would check it in a couple days to see if it brought it down any. When you see your phophates even out or start to raise it's time to change it.

I thought Phosar was good for 3 months? I know it says on the container. I use mine in a reactor with carbon, so I cut the amount used since the carbon is only good for a month.

Doesn't it depend on the stocking of the tank. If it was stocked very heavy it would need to be replaced more often.

replacing phosar
I replace mine when I notice that the micro algae is growing on the glass at an accelerated rate. I think that with a little time using it you will see the difference and be able to catch when it is exhausted
