Angry More Nuisance Algae

At first I really liked this little clump of algae but now little sprigs of this stuff is popping up all over my tank. pretty soon my rocks will be covered in this stuff. Some has also attach to the skeletons of my corals and are now growing on them. I need something that likes to eat this stuff.

I forgot to mention the tank is only 3 months old.

thanks.

Hi,

I am afraid I can't help you on this one. Perhaps someone with more algal experience will drop in and lend a hand.

Sorry.

Too far away to tell for sure,
But gestalt suggests it is

Acanthophora spicifera
(If there are pink-orange tips to the 'branches', then it could be A. muscoides, but I feel the colony in the blurry pic seems far too dirty brown for that)

I'd obliterate it without mercy.

It can break easily, and you have to be aware that any fragments (usually the holdfasts left attached to ANYTHING in the tank) remaining will regenerate. If you have to gouge out a little rock to get fragments out, do it.

If it's possible check your imports for excessive iron.

hth,
and again, the ID is a best guess.
