Yes, I saw that too. Although, Steve said the output is about the same but the 20K probably is a bit higher. He has some numbers, he did some testing of PAR so he would have some more info. Definitely shoot him an email or call him. I told him that you may be contacting him about the bulbs.

Great info there DarG.
Good luck Indy, it seems like you do want a more of a blue look than the AB 10ks would give you, although they are not your typical 10k bulb. Those of us with 24" tanks and 150w bulbs have to make some trade offs. I dont have the DSB. My next tank will certainly have 250w bulbs in either 12k or 14k. |

ALL - Thanks for the input / help - much appreciated. I posted the same question on the "other" forum and got almost no help...
DARG - I received the email. Thank you for the detailed information and recommendations on bulbs, as well as the information on retro-fitting the canopy for 250W MH's. I have all but decided that I will switch to the Iwasaki Aqua2 20,000K bulbs. The 50,000K bulbs are intriguing, but I am a little concerned with the difference in output between them and the 20,000K Aqua2's. My current bulbs have only been in use for a little more than 7 months, so they should make good "spares" to give me time to order a replacement bulb (in the event of a failure). If they weren't so expensive, I would buy both the 20,000K and 50,000K and, what the heck, the AB 10,000K's, so that I could do some comparison testing. Maybe Santa will be nice to me and put a couple of MH's in my stocking Thanks again and take care...
