Talking Bangaii's - YES!

Bought myself a breeding pair of Bangaii's from the LFS yesterday. The male had eggs in his mouth when I bought them, and he didn't spit them or eat them during the change of tanks. I can't believe it! I'm hoping this means I have a die-hard male!

Male's on the right - notice his distended jaw.

Not sure if he's swallowed them or not...his jaw seems smaller, but he's not eating (female is) and seems to "adjust" his jaw every once in a while, so that gives me hope he's still got them.

What good luck! If he doesn't lose the eggs it'll be incredible luck. Even if he does, you'll likely get a new batch soon enough. Way to go!

I'm pretty stoked...it's not often you find a breeding pair of Bangaii's for sale. Wasn't a bad price either (not for the LFS's around here anyway haha).

The male is still not eating (female is a hog though), but his jaw isn't as distended as it was in the LFS (it could be paranoid halucinations). Maybe he lost a few...? If he loses all of them, does it take awhile for him to start eating again?

When my male spits out a batch of fry he starts eating the very next day (he spits at night and is eating by morning). If you post a new pic i can probably tell you whether he still has them or not.

Ok, thanks. Now that they're semi-comfortable they hide behind the rocks. I'll try to get a photo, but I don't know if I'll be able to. Might have to wait until they're settled and come out more. I don't have any aggressive fish to bother them.

BABIES!!!!

I went to strip him today, and he spat as soon as I netted him. So that was easy.

13 of the little guys alive. One got squished in the spit.

Thanks! I see you have quite the breeding system. Do you have a website that details your experiences?

I'm looking for more information particularly on well made egg tumblers, and nutrition both for the adults and the fry.

Myka--
please use the search command or do a google search on this site.
There used to be lots of info on eggs tumblers, and we've been discussing it here since 2001.
Theres even a video or two of the eggs floating and hatching (i believe the persons name was "coraldynamics")

In regards to info thread, hopefully you've found these

Thanks for the links! I'll check them out.

I have done lots of searches on here, and have found a whole bunch of different ways to make an egg tumbler. I was hoping you may have insight on which ones work easiest/best.

I guess I'm just trying to figure out how to mnake what I have work the best.
