Thanks for all the comments guys, i've just got back from a big trip to the outer reefs (4 days out at sea).
I've got around 650 photos and movies from that trip on my computer ready to be sorted and posted.
Make sure you stay tuned to see the best of those several hundred shots, featuring everything from huge clams, to lionfish at night, to sharks, to regal and sixbar angels, to massive acroporid forests and everything in between!

Probably would have tried to become a marine biologist if I hadnt been in the middle of BFE. I just got a job as an intern with morgan stanley that goes into a salaried part time position this summer (not exactly sure how that works, heh) =I should be able to transfer within the company and they are located in sydney....anyways i guess im asking do you know if its pretty common for people to transfer over there esp. finance related?
There are thousands of finance Jobs in Sydney, alot of Global finance companies and banks use it as their Asia-Pacific regional HQ.

Great city to live in.

If I never make it to the land down under, at least your pics took me closer than I have ever been. Thank you for this!

Alright, an update:
I'm currently on Orpheus Island, on the GBR. JCU (James Cook Uni) has a research station out here and i'll be doing coral zonation research for the next week. Photos will probably go up once i get back to shore and can finally start my winter break, there will also be heaps more from Orpheus as well!
Oh, and there are not a lot of crown of thorns, and no we are not encouraged or allowed to kill them. These creatures are a part of the reef ecosystem and enjoy boom and bust years just like any other species, i like to think we have moved past the era of excessive reaction killings. We now understand a lot more about the reefs and how they fluctuate.
Anyway, i can see some baby blacktip reefsharks cruising the beach in front of me, so i'm going to go take some photos and maybe go diving.
Stay tuned people!

Every time I see this thread, I want to book a flight to the GBR.

Are you sharing the pictures pretty much as is (just resized) or are you running them through photoshop to clean them up? I was just wondering if they could look even better - no accusations nor trying to imply anything. I bet the corals look so much nicer in person.
