Do you notice any changes to your tank? Less algae? Better coral growth? Healthier fish?

The glass is much easier to clean, getting a whitish film each day. The skimmer is very very slimy, especially the riser tube. The sand gets patches of cyano bacteria, as well as some areas of the rockwork.

My tank seems to be doing fine though. I took a bunch of pictures this evening that I posted in my thread.

FWIW, it's the same with Vodka.... re: slime on the glass, skimmer, etc

I'll be interested to see if you can actually stop using the product though. I'm assuming that, just like with vodka, you ramp up and ramp down when your NO3 gets to where you like it. However, with vodka, when you ramp down, you find a level that you like to maintain, and also maintain the corresponding daily dosage of vodka.

This product clearly states to ramp it down or wean the tank off of it. That phase hasn't been attempted quite yet.

Yup, I used it once. IMHO, it's a source of carbon to fuel bacteria growth. Once the bacteria don't get their sugar, NO3 may rise... Have you noticed anything with your PO4 levels?

to be honest I never weened my tank off of the AZNO3, the nitrates went down to 0 and I was out of the stuff and didn't have time to drive 2 hours to pick up some more. but in the end without ramping down the nitrates have been below 5ppm for over 2 monthes now after having 40-60ppm for 2 years. and all the corals, fish, ect. are doing great and showing much more polyp extension.

not saying I would just stop dosing it just my experience of what happened

I opened up a new bottle last night. I have 90% of that bottle plus one more and then I'm out. Even if I don't hit 0, I'll probably start the weaning process. I don't think it will be difficult to do, since I didn't dose at full strength anyway. I was supposed to dose 40ml a day, and I'm only dosing 30ml, so each dose is 75% of what is recommended.

They are staying at 0.

I actually stopped using it for about 2 weeks and didn't see any adverse affects...Im back to using it again daily.

I actually didnt test in that period of time, although yes I believe the went up 10ppm from lack of skimming/water change...

I've been using AZ NO3 for about a week, although I forgot to dose a couple of days.

When can I expect to see a change if it's going to work? Tested the nitrates today, and they are still high. :-(

It will take some time. I've been dosing since Sept 22, so roughly 45 days. It brought my nitrates down from 60 to under 5ppm (as of a few days ago). I'll test today or tomorrow to see what the numbers are.

Two nights ago, I checked the nitrates and they were around 2ppm. I'm starting to see some changes in some corals, so I've decided to wean the system off the AZNO3 product. Specifically, the bubble coral looks smaller, the anemones looked shiny, and a couple of twigs of SPS RTN'd. Since I've reduced the NO3 significantly, I think the product did what I needed. Hopefully it will handle the weaning-off period. If it does, then I can recommend this product to others in the future without reservations.
