$$ Macro algae $$

Hello all

I was at LFS today and bought some Macro (grape cal.). Looked like nice stuff but it was 5.00 a small portion about the size of a golf ball.
Is this about right.. or a little pricey. I tossed it in the sump... im thinking of setting up a small tank and grow my own.. Thanks

That sounds kinda steep, I would check in the classified section, a lot of people sell Chaeto for $8-$10 shipped.

$5 for a golf ball is pricey, but whether it's a golf ball or a gallon bag really doesn't matter -- it will probably grow quickly enough anyway.

One note on grape caulerpa -- it will overrun your display tank if it gets in there and you don't have something to eat it (tang, etc.). Just a note of caution -- don't let that happen.

Go chaeto all the way.

$5.00 for a golf ball size of grape cal. OUCH I got mine from a wholesale store that is open to the public (for a small 1 time membership fee) charged $5.00 for a 1/2 lb. bag

Thats pricy for just a small golfball size, but you have to consider this grap cal grows extremly fast and you dont need much of it before it will take over your entire system. In 2 weeks youll have 6 times the amount you started with minimum.. I do hope you know grap crashes and goes sexual and releases all the toxins its removed right back into the system, doing more damage then it would be doing good. you should keep an eye on it once it starts to turn a light color, (clearish) remove all the pieces like that.
