Naka's 180 Starphire tank!!!

I just got my new 180 Starphire tank in today. I can't believe it's finally here.

It's 60 x 30 x 24 ---- Sides and front 3/4" Starphire glass and the back panel is 3/4" standard glass.

The bottom plate is type I sch. 80 pvc w/ all holes counter sunk for my close loop and my overflow.

I'll post more pics when the stand comes in next week.

Thanks,

Naka

Look at the difference in color between the front/side vs back glasses. The cardboard looks darker.

Super clean edges and beautiful blue Starphire glass

Check it out... NO braces baby!!

It looks very nice! Congratulations!

It looks very neat with no frame and no top bracing of any kind. Starphire glass is great. You will love that aspect of it.

nice. I take it you will be using 10k halides. Whats the setup gonna be like? I bet that would look great with the blue hue and all.

Thanks for all the compliments. This tank was built by Aquarium Environments in Houston. You can email or call Jaime Depujades (jdepujadas@aquariumenvironments.com) about the cost of the tank. And yes it is under warranty!

I¡¯ve always wanted the open top look w/ light fixture suspended from my ceiling, so I¡¯m going with Sifiligoi Infinity HQI 2 x 250w (10k Ushio/BLV) with T5. It¡¯s a 48¡± fixture w/ 2 x ACLS to control the lighting schedule. I ordered the light back in February, and it¡¯s finally here.

The plumbing starts next week also, b/c Red Dragon pumps are taking forever to get here. RD 6.5 for the return and 12¡¯s for the closed loop w/ OM 4 way. I¡¯ll post more pictures later next week when I get my stand in.

Thanks,

Naka

Absolutely gorgeous! Very interested in seeing your progress. Sounds like an all HIGH END SYSTEM

Is that 1/2" glass?

Good Luck.

in that pic, the starfire looks like it makes a bigger difference that i would have guessed. any chance it's because the cardboard is up flush against the back, meaning light has to make 2 passes through the glass rather than the other panes you can see cardboard through where light only has to make 1 pass? so that the difference is exaggerated?

Awesome tank. It is one foot longer than mine, the 30" front to back is very nice. No brace on the top though?

Even at 3/4 inches thick, I would not trust a glass tank no matter how well built without some kind of bracing on top (euro-bracing, steel trim, cross-bracing, etc.)

Beautiful tank and it sounds like you aren't sparing anything on the tank!

Congratulation, that's a beautiful tank.

Haven't talk to you for a while. I sold my 110G and and just started with 30G cube. I might getting 120G soon. I think I need to give this place call to see how much is cost. How much does it cost you?

Nam,

Ok, I’m back. Sorry it took sooooo long, but I finally finished plumbing my tank. Just a slight delay w/ my stand, but as you can see, I’m very happy w/ the final result. You think my rock is cured by now? It’s been getting bi-weekly water changes in a 55 gal. drum since February 2006. I’m going to start stocking next week. Enjoy the pics.
