If I had 1k I would buy it, just because it's differen't and stands out in the crowd. Plus I'm sure no one here on RC has one.

All that it's missing is a third eye, and it would compete with Blinky from the simpsons.

It would take a lot more than a couple to make that fish look beautiful to me

That fish is a two bagger.
You put a bag over your head in case the bag over the fish's head breaks.

I have seen half a dozen or so at a local exporter here that exports livestocks to the US last week. These are the best that my mobile phone camera could do.

To each his own I suppose. I personally do not like it, but some people get weird things just for the shock factor.

I thought it was something cool to show off to reefer friend, and did entertain the idea of getting it while I was there, but I guess a "regular" tang would work much better to a non reefer whom tend to be more objective, so I bought the purple tang instead.

Sorry, I have no idea as I didn't ask.

But my opinion is that I don't think this fish is that rare in the wild, since they can easily bag quite a handful of identical ones at one go.

I have nothing to back myself up but my hunch is that the divers probably were seeing this fish all along but left them alone as they think these fishes are too unattractive to fetch them any cash, and lately they ran out of scopas out there and so we got our thousand dollar fish.

I would get one. I think they look pretty cool. Wouldn't pay a grand though...............I would rather buy a 12-16ft pane of starfire.
