Steel Frame for Stand
I am in the process of designing the stand for my tank. I am wanting to have a welder friend put together a steel frame for the tank. I just wondered what the recommendations are on the size of steel to use for a 120 gal reef tank? I will also be having a DSB if that makes a difference for weight issues. I've also read a thread on RC relating to marine topside as a protectant, and I'm looking into getting some. Also, any thoughts on how far apart the tabs should be placed in order to attach the wood?
Thanks in advance for all replies!! Nikki

i recommend 2 x 2 square tubing. i've seen a tank stand made from this already for a 150gl.

For what its worth, I had one made out of 2x2 thick wall aluminum for my 300. I dont have to worry about rust.

I have seen store bought 2x2 for a 230 with a 3/4 glass bottom.
consider attaching the wood with velcro. Or place tabs aprox every 10 inch with one at each corner.
