Thanks guys, I appreciated the kinds words. I put a lot of effort into that tank.

I was going through a bunch of photos so I figured maybe it would be fun to dump a ton of cool pics from the tank in this one thread.

(3) 250 watts SE XM10K MH, on icecap ballasts. (3) 140 watt VHO URI actinic on icecap ballasts.

circulation was a tunze 6100 stream, two MJ1200, and two 3/4 sea swirls powered by the return pump a sequence 6000. Over all about 24x turnover.

Joe, what do you attribute the good colors in your tank to?

Wicked photos, Joe. Wow.

Did you feed your SPS? If yes, did you target feed or did you just let it loose in the water?

Again, thanks for the kind words guys. miwoodar I did feed the tank live rotifers for about two years (years 2-4). I never target fed though. I just dumped about 2 gallons worth of rotifers, that had been strained through a plankton cup, into the tank every night about 1/2 hour after the lights went off.

Mostly these threads that I started.

Let's talk about water quality in an SPS tank.

Lets talk about lighting an SPS tank

Let's talk about water movement in an SPS tank

Love the old tank Joe and have been subscribed to the new one........waiting....... :P One thing I never noticed until now though. On some shots I noticed a purple/redish hair like algae on the rocks. I have this as well and wondering what you did to keep it in check? I run GFO in a reactor and my lawnmower blenny eats some of it but it still grows a bit. I don't have issues with any other "pest" algae and this one although not extremely intrusive (doesn't grow over coral) is a eyesore I would like to rid myself of or at least prevent continued growth. I have no crabs including hermits in the system and have been contemplating adding some to work on this.

your tank was so tight!

I have looked at pics of your tank over and over and they always amaze me. When I think of SPS I think of JB NY. Truly one of the best tanks out there.
