Wow Pat! Your tank is awesome! How do you keep it so clean?
According to what I've read online the nudis will lay 1 string of eggs every 1-4 days per individual. Mine aren't quite up to that rate yet, but the eggs were laid on 8/5, 8/8 and 8/10, so pretty good rate so far. My second nudi is 1/3 the size of the larger one so it might not be laying egg masses as large as the larger one and I might be missing those. A couple more egg masses in the white bucket and I'm switching the adults to my blue bucket so I can see them easier. One of them decided to crawl across the water surface last night: B.

Okay, so you're keeping them in a bucket. What are you using for filtration then? Aren't you afraid they will die?
I don't do anything special with the tank. Just try and keep good water parameters and do water changes faithfully. I'm happy with the tank so far. I'd like a little more color in it, but in due time....it will.

Brain, all those things coming out of that worm makes it look like a spaghetti worm. I don't know what a full spaghetti worm looks like though.....just the spaghetti part.

Instead I do about a 5-10% water change every day by skimming off the surface of the water with a cup and replacing it with freshly mixed saltwater, I also try to aerate the water with a chopstick each night before bed. I'm slowly increasing the volume of water so evaporation changes the salinity less. The temp is a rock solid 77 which is fine. Some articles suggest that vigorous aeration will kill the babies as well. I'm considering doing a very slow air bubble drip, but so far they have been fine in the bucket. When I switch the adults to a new bucket I'll drip acclimate them to new about 90% new saltwater so I will effectively do a 90% water change once a month or so. B.

Brian, the first critters are tunicates and the second is a spaghetti worm.

Pat,
i didnt get to go by the LFS. i ended up at work until almost 7. i looked up on google Japanese swallowtail and got a return of Genicanthus semifasciatus. fishbase shows this fish as i think, based on S. Micheals fish ID book. i could look it up on amazon if you are interested in which book it is. a quick google search turned up tons of images of female japanese swallowtails. it also shows this fish listed as a "masked angel", which is a precise reason for not using common names at all wetwebmedia shows the Genicanthus melanospilos as the black spot swallowtail. when i searched for "black spot swallowtail" petsolutions is the only one that comes up i guess this is proof that we should go by scientific names. another google search turned up nice photos of female Genicanthus melanospilos. so we can call it as we wish, but i believe we both have Genicanthus melanospilos.

Clown Fairy Wrasse
Does anyone have one of these in there tank? Cirrhilabrus solorensis or Clown/Painted Fairy Wrasse? I think they're really colorful and only get to be 3.5 to 5 inches long, depending on who/what you read?
I did a search on Yahoo Images and came back with a bunch of pics. |

Thanks Landon....it does say on the Pet Solutions page that it is Genicanthus melanospilos sp.
Those are beautiful fish Brian.....did you get one? Yes, I have one Tunze and one Seio. I like the Tunze better for the flow, but I like the seio better for mounting, even though I have the magnet to mount the Tunze. I just find it a PITA to get that Tunze back onto the holder in the magnet when I clean it out. It's quicker than unscrewing the Seio, but sometimes my magnet slides a little.

actually i think it is going to work out well. i don't want a lot of flow. it's a softy tank and they all do better in low flow, but i do have a small dead spot i want to eliminate.
