Well, theyre retailing at 270 a piece. I've had it about 2 weeks now... it eats frozen shrimp right out of my hand... if anybody is interested in one the store still has 2 in stock.

how big is it? If it is one of the rare ones, I don't know if I would feel comfortable owning one...

I'd say a little over a foot in diameter... They seem to be quite hardy.. and I don't think breeding them is out of the question either. They care for them alot better than most Bimacs... so all the ones that arrived at the store have arrived alive and in good health... hence their high price. Giganto shipping bags = mucho freight. I'm wondering if they can be sexed like other octopi. Does anyone know how rare they are? I mean... if theyre so hard to find couldn't it just be that theyre extremely good hiders? Like Swalesi basslets. It used to be thought that they were rare.. but it turns out theyre just really good hiders and not seen very often. and OH MY GOD... when he/she mimics a Lion fish it is a magnificent site!

It seems they are declining in numbers in the wild, like the flamboyant cuttle. They tend to stay in the same place, so once a collector knows where one is, it doesn't stay there very long.

We don't really know how rare they are, but I like to discourage their collection until we know more.

Wow, if those could be captive bred, I would certainly buy One! No idea on how to sex them, maybe Dr Roy might know...
