That's definitely asking for trouble. Either one expensive, dead, dried out octopus or one quick, painful bite on your way to eternity.

the fuss

What is all the fuss.....who would handle it anyway? You put it in the tank and leave it alone. It cannot bite through he glass. I would not put my hand near enough for it to bite. No more than I pick up my Death Stalker scorpion, or my Mantis shrimp(when he was alive). I would be more concerned with its life expectancy and $$$$. Why would one handle it. FWIW.....the sorpion I spoke of will drop you quicker than the octo.

Now you may all call me crazy.......as I wheelie to work.

Yeah, that's fine until you find it on the floor in the middle of the night after it's inked all over your dog and carpet. It's very, very difficult to make a tank completely octo proof. They have no skeleton.
If there's a hole that you can stick a pencil eraser through, they can get through it. They like to explore.

And no, though scorpions, from the research I've done, have a significantly weaker venom than a bluering.

Blue ring - "This venom contains tetrodotoxin, one of the most potent neurotoxins known. Human death from heart and respiratory failure can occur within minutes."

Scorpion - "This scorpion’s sting delivers extremely toxic venom that can cause extreme pain, convulsions, paralysis, and even death by heart or respiratory failure."

Seems the octo wins. It passes right by the extreme pain, convulsions, and paralysis part and kills you straight away. Why go through all that other unpleasant stuff?

Exactly, like I'm gonna be cuddling with the dang thing.

And they only live to be 1 1/2 years old anyway, that sucks. But I'd really own one if it were in anyway possible and as longs it wasn't too expensive.

BTW, that scorpion is bad-@@#$%!

The bite might be painless, but this octopus injects a neuromuscular paralysing venom. The venom contains some maculotoxin, a poison more violent than any found on land animals. The nerve conduction is blocked and neuromuscular paralysis is followed by death. The victim might be saved if artificial respiration starts before marked cyanosis and hypotension develops.
it's not just tetrodotoxin

Hmmm...same toxin as puffers I believe IIRC. BTW what does it mater if one is more toxic than the other? Your dead either way .
