If I understand your first question correctly, you wanted to know how to link to pics stored on your site without actually putting them into a webpage. Just upload them to your site directory, then on RC, put www.yourdomain.com/picname.jpg inside the IMG tags. Easy cheesy. Just watch your bandwidth as RC can eat up a lot (my hubby yells at me for putting pics on our server ).

As far as why your site isn't up, when did you register your domain? Even if GoDaddy is letting you upload files, it doesn't mean your domain is ready yet.

Ah I see crystal, thanks. I just registered tonight. So it can take some time then?

Now I have uploaded my 1 page that says under construction. When it comes time to put the new complete site in, how do I reove that? Do I have to have an FTP editor?

Man who new this was gonna be so hard. Well I am off to bed, just let me know.

LOL... yeh, it can take 24-48 hours. Usually they have been ready the next day for me lately.

Well, your UNDER CONSTRUCTION page should currently be index.html or default.html. When you upload your site, your home page will be index.html and will write over the construction page. If you put some custom work into your construction page and want to save it on the server, rename it as index-old or construction or whatever before you upload the site and write over it.

Domain name registration takes a couple of days to propogate to all the name servers out there. You should have an IP address that you can use to go directly to your site, as an IP address does not require a domain name.

I have the IP address, but when I use that I still get the same thing. I am wondering if maybe I did something wrong.

I uploaded, it says it was uploaded. Heck I can even see the stuff is there when I use an FTP editor, or dreamweaver. But when I go to my address it gives me an error page.

Granted atleast it is go daddies error page.

Ok here is my question. When I go to http://www.ajpsreef.com There is nothing but http://www.ajpsreef.com/Index.htm works. How do I make it so the first one opens the index page?

There should be a setting that lets you tell it what your default page is. If you can't find that, then just rename your index.htm file to the defualt, which maybe index.html or default.html or default.htm, etc, etc. I would probably try the full index.html name first. You will need to do the same thing for each of your folders for your default page.

Did you upload the index file to the right directory? I think they have a "public_html" directory to upload your files to.

Changing your file to all lower case letters may help. I have never tried capitalizing page names so I don' know if it freaks out at that or not.

index.html should be your default page automatically. You shouldn't have to tell your site to use it.

I use almost 5 gig of bandwidth a month from my website and my thread in the reef discussion forum.
