Wonderpus Sighting.....

Well I have just correctly Identified a wonderpus at my LFS.. they previously thought it to be a Mimic, but it just didnt seem to look right, and with a little help from reefcentral found my hunch to be correct. Not having much experience with octo's I wanted to do some research into care for this animal. First and foremost i did want to explain that I am not retrieving this info for myself rather to help the LFS care for the little guy better. The Octo has been there for about 5 weeks and has not accepted any food other than Ghost shrimp, and (as i have read) it tends to stay hidden from sight most of the day. So if anyone with some experience keeping these guys could pass some info along it would be much appreciated.. Thanks in advance.

Joshua

The care of Wunderpus and the Mimic is pretty much the same. They should be kept on a sand bed that will allow them to burrow, be fed live crustaceans (crabs and stomatopods are the typical food), and provided a shell or pvc refuge in case they can't burrow in the substrate provide. Temperature and salinity should be stable at typical reef norms.
