You get what you pay for. And that stuff is junk. The regular bulb they give you a piece of junk. Your tank will be bright yellow, and very ugly.

This is what I use. It works very well and the sale is great (a $60 bulb for $20):

If your tank is more than 20" (IMO), get the 250w:

If you read down below the ad it looks like for $75 you get a 4300K bulb. They want like $79 more to add the 12K.

I bought that setup a couple years back.
Ballast is Tar and gets really hot. Will work but you need a reflector and supplement with actinics.

ive been using that setup from that company for about 3 years. its not pretty but it works. i used a regular cheap flourescent reflector and i have the ballasts sitting on top of the canopy with ceramic cigarette or are they soap dishes? i found at the 99 cent only store that prevent them from heating up the wooden canopy. the wires just sit there in the air with wirenuts. i upgraded the light bulbs shortly after i setup the system since theyre REALLY yellow. i wound up trading a whole ton of clove polyp rocks into the local fish store for credit and buying one bulb and then got another used bulb from a friend for 10 bucks. the spectrum difference isnt that noticible so i lucked out. theyre both 10 or 12k bulbs i forgot which and since its on right now i cant really go look. im going to have to buy some reflectors at some point since the reflective material is finally starting to flake off the reflectors to reveal the steel beneath. ive grown a whole ton of SPS with this system though.

Is it easy to wire it up, or do you need an electrician, my dad could probably do it.
