$$$Closed Loop-Yikes$$$

I just ordered my 125, stand, canopy combo. I want a closed loop and they said they would drill it for me. I want 2 one inch returns on either side and one 1.5 inch outflow. Problem is they want $75 to drill it, that's 75 for each hole or $225 for the 3. Am I getting ripped off. Seems like allot to me. Should I just pay it and not have to regret not getting a closed loop later on? When I questioned the price they said normally it's 35 a hole with no guarantees, but they charge 75 because if they crack the tank they will replace it. Any thoughts here?

Uh... You dont have to have a tank drilled for a CL... you can simply have PVC running over the tanks rim for the intake, and to return up the back and over to the spot you want to have current, with some Black PVC its really nice... and LOW $$$

save yourself some trouble and worrys and money, just do the PVC thing!

Don't wanna really mention names here. It's not a custom tank, it's a stock 125, but it is a custom stand. What is "normal" price for drilling?

A normal price is 10-20 per hole. You might check with a glass shop and see if they will drill it.

the price of the bit is like $7 on ebay.

Drilling one is ridiculously easy. I can't imagine where one gets off charging $75 a hole.

Now wait a second. They want that much in case they break the tank right. Ask them how much it will cost if they don't break the tank.

Regardless, it shouldn't be $75 a hole. They shouldn't charge you if you break the tank

I know that but I would still ask them how much it is if they dont break it.
