Search problem

I know it must be something obvious but I can't think of what could be wrong.

If I do a search for "calcium" ( as in calcium reactor) I get an immediate message "Sorry - no matches. Please try some different terms."

Even though I know there are threads with the word calcium.

If I search for nearly everthing else such as "Tunze", I get the "your search is in progress message" and it searches for a while before returning results.

"reactor" doesn't work right for me either.

What am I doing wrong? Thanks.

I see I'm not the only one with the problem.

Any solutions?

A google site search can't limit it to a specific forum so thats not a very useful method.

Unfortunately, no. The search engine searches every forum, every post, every line and first returns ALL occurrences, then filters according to the searcher's parameters. Some words are just too commonly used on this site to be able to be used in the search.

If we allowed the word "calcium" to be searched, the site would lock up even more than it does more - quite a bit more, actually. Do you have any idea how many times "calcium" is posted on this site?

OK, I understand the problem.

How about a couple of changes to the site that would help get around the problem I and others have had.

1. Change the message "Sorry - no matches. Please try some different terms." to something more descriptive like "Sorry search results too numerous, try more unique terms".

2. Tag each post with a unique identifier for the forum it is in such as RCF74 (Reef Central Forum 74 for this one) that way I can use google to search by forum for Calcium.

You might also add how to use google to search for the terms you want on the "Sorry - no matches. Please try some different terms." message page.

thanks
