Long Term Maintenance
I am trying to figure out a schedule for cleaning items that don't need to be done on a weekly basis such as:
- Cleaning pumps and power heads - Turkey baster under rock - Larger than normal water changes - Replace phosban and activated carbon (I don't have these yet but am looking into them) Cuting back macroalgae from sump -Siphoning sand Anything else I may be missing. I don't want to forget to do something and then have negative effects on my tank. Here is a list of the things I do on a short term basis: - weekly water changes (5 gallons) - Test twice a week for: NH3, NO3, PO4, KH, Ca (I am looking into getting a Mg test) - Test/Look at Daily: SG, Temp - As Needed: Empty Skimmer, wipe salt spray |

my routine (fwiw) is this:
water change 10% once a fortnight water top up opposite fornight water testing once a fortnight (water change fortnight before the change is done unless the protien skimmer is in overdrive then I test just to make sure) pump clean once a month protien skimmer twice weekly powerheads weekly with the water change weekend so I can use the saltwater to wash things thoroughly glass clean daily coral feeding twice a week turkey baste blast twice a week (not at the same time I feed the corals, it seems cruel lol) fish feeding twice a day none of this compares to the time I spend just sat watching the tank though lol
