How big are your bam-bams?

I was just wondering what the size other grower's bam-bams were like in different lighting. Under 2 400w 14k MH's my bam-bams are about a nickle size for the head and about a quarter size with the skirt. Does anyone else out there have this size?

they are right in the middle of the tank in this picture, next to the eagle eyes.

lol, I get a lot of growth!

They are brown orange center...not the prettiest in the world but they look better than an overflow!! The right side actually has zoas with green skirts and a green center starting to grow up that side as well!

They don't look like bam bams to me. The skirts don't look to be bright orange. Maybe just the photo though. Mine might be dime-sized w/ skirt at best. Nice population of zoanthids though, I'm hoping mine never go quite that nuts

here is a closer pic. I was thinking about glass magnification as well...wouldn't this make them seem larger than they actually are? Does anyone know the stats on this...i'd like to be able to make comparisons w/o sticking change in the tank lol!

They are obviously big...compared to the zoas next to them. About 4 or 5 reg. size would fit inside.

Hello Jason,

Very beautifull zoas, we don't have those here in Europe. May I ask how you attached them to your overflow ?

Its a 150 gallon with a built in overflow which flows into a 40 gallon fuge for filtration. There is a NaturalWave pump system to give variations in flow around the tank and for lighting there are 2 400 watt 14k hamiltons. I can't remember the size of the pump in the fuge, but it has quite a bit of flow. Liverock...can't remeber the exact lbs, but quite a lot of it!

As for growth on the overflow box, the rocks were placed close to the coralline encrusted overflow, giving a good surface for growth. The zoas took care of the rest.

i have some that large; my guess is just extended captivity has led to a larger polyp size. my eagle eyes are the same way, they both have been in captivity for 4 years+
