Stay away from Pet Paradise

They have no clue what they're doing when it comes to saltwater fish. The tanks are filthy, poorly lit, cramped and overcrowded. The fish are violently netted as they flee under rocks which are knocked on top of them as the moronic fish sales kid fishes them out. I got a hippo tang there which has black ich and popeye.

Just a warning if you live in monmouth county.

Tropiquarium is the way to go.

Where exactly is Pet Paradise? Live stock at Tropiquarium is nice, but expensive. Hardware is also very expensive.

You really need to take a trip over to Fishtails or Absolutley Fish if you think Tropiquarium has nice livestock. These places will amaze you.

The top stores that I know would have to be Aquaoceans, Tropiquarium, Absolutely fish and Fishtails. I was at Fishtails yesterday. I think that they are having problems with the live rock. I wanted to pick up a clam but the stuff didn't look great. I hope thery can get it under control.

Hippus,

I tried Steve's method of no water changes. He says it worked for him. I followed his methods, and it never worked for me. I abandoned his method and went to a sump with refuge.

IMO his live stock is on the slim side.

I like Steve and only buy the white filter poly material from him.

If anyone wants to buy his Skimmer and HOB filter system, minus RIO pump let me know, I have one sitting around.

thanks

Rich

rt.88 is ridiculous. Did you see the lighting on their invert tanks? They also suggest getting a fluval and a wet-dry for reefs.

FMJeff,
Stop by if you haven’t to check us out While I am a little biased because I work in a LFS I would recommend you look around more. I was in AF not to long ago for the first time and was very impressed with the corals and fish there. As far as any other recommendations I leave that to the crowd. I don’t shop around much.
FoundryMusic! What ever happened to O&A? Did they manage to get back on air anywhere?
Just wondering…the long commute sucks now

Thanks John…Ride if you ever come in on a Saturday say hi and introduce yourself. I love putting faces to the names of people I know online.

Illia,
Sorry about the rock mix up but I’m only there 1 day a week. We did have issues with the rock. It’s from a new vendor and while we love the rock it was just to RAW and needs to be cured in a separate vat. And that’s what we will be doing with all new shipments to come. Most of the corals went into the store display or my tank this weekend and what’s left is looking better as of last night. I’m just glad we didn’t order the acro’s I wanted with the rock.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Grossr,
You and many others
I do like his system in that they move a lot of water and I too rinse all my sponges almost daily. I try to physically remove detritus and nuisance algae’s as often as possible. That way it’s not broken down in the system to a point that I can’t help. I know of many reefers with the system doing great but the do water changes.
I read somewhere that O&A are still under contract till Summer of 2004. If so you wouldn't expect to see them till then.
It's Opey and Anthony. They used to have a talk show on 102.7 in the afternoon similar to Howard Stern but they were better. They got kicked off the air. But will return. LOL I'm over here now!
Musical group!? Yea right
A frequent guest was Stephen Lynch on their show. Boy is he good
The reason they were kicked off the air was because they had Howard in their back pockets and the brass at infinity knew it. The big thing is that the hooknose & orio show is loosing listeners left & right after alison dumped his @$$, jacki left and lesly gold went on mornings. Now she's gone and I reduced to listneing to public radio.
Boris.
P.S. Jeff, I thought Steve ran foundry?
I have the WOW sticker I picked up at the Newark baseball stadium on the side of my tractor.
It's worked several times for me
Stern sucks, Boris.
